  • First install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin
  • Once the activation is done successfully on your WordPress blog, then visit the Yoast set up page. Open the configuration wizard.
  • As the page loads, have it in mind that some important things about your blog will be asked. Supply the necessary information to confirm you are the owner of the blog. That is the ownership of the website you are adding will be verified.
  • Click on the next continuously to load up the next few pages. Input the required data.
  • As it reaches the finish button, exit the configuration wizard
  • You can now visit the address for the Google Webmaster Console. Use com/webmasters. For the other search engines like Bing, use bing.com/toolbox/webmaster and for Yandex, use webmaster.yandex.com/sites/add/
  • Sign up and add your website URL as a new property. You will also need to verify the property ownership here by taking an action.
  • From step 7 above, click on the alternative tag and a code will be displayed for you. Copy the code as it going to be used in further steps.
  • On your WordPress dashboard, visit the Yoast General page. Find and click webmaster tools and paste (the code copied) in a box where you see Google. Then click on
  • On the webmaster page, click I have verified the property and it will be successfully verified.
  • You can now click on the property. It will take you the property’s overview.
  • Locate and click sitemap on the left hand side of the screen.
  • Choose add new sitemap. Enter your sitemap URL which is normally in xml extension. Then click submit.

Click on submit button ascertain it that you have successfully submitted your sitemap. That is all you need to add your WordPress blog to Google webmaster console. After the submission is done successfully, it may take a while for Google to display your website data.
